Will Spokes Pastoral Transition Visit - Nov. 15-17

Will Spokes Upcoming Visit - Nov. 15-17

Dear Members and Attenders of Grace Presbyterian,

I write with information about our pastoral transition.  First, on behalf of Session I want to thank everyone for the warm welcome that was extended to Will Spokes during his visit, and for the candid and helpful conversations that took place over the October 4-6 weekend.

Next, I’d like to update you on our next steps.  Will arrives at Grace for his second visit on Friday November 15, staying through Sunday afternoon on the 17th.  In his last visit we had a fruitful town-hall-style pizza dinner and conversation. This visit we would like to offer two smaller-sized gatherings, a pair of Coffee-with-Will meetings, to allow more voices to participate in the conversation.  They will take place on Saturday Nov 16 at 3:00 P.M., and Sunday Nov 17 at 12:30 P.M. Please RSVP here if you’d like to attend one of these events. These are very informal and an opportunity for you to join the conversation.

Here’s what else will happen during his visit:

Session has created, per Will’s request, a working group called the Ministry Vision Committee that under Will’s guidance will take the details from our ongoing and broader conversations and begin to build a vision for our ministry and fellowship going forward.  (We were previously calling this the Strategic Planning Committee; the renaming creates a more accurate description.) The committee will eventually produce a draft job description for our next Senior Pastor. That committee consists of:  Nick Alexander, Michael Anderson, Hayden Carter, Jackie Coburn, Mark Coddington, Emily Danner, Lucas Morel, and Laura Pearson.

Note that this committee is not the Pulpit Search Committee that will begin the job search for a new Senior Pastor in April 2020. The Pulpit Search Committee will be nominated by, and voted on, by the congregation.

Thank you for reading this long email!  I hope that you will join the conversation with Will during the November 15-17 weekend.

On behalf of Session,

Michael Anderson, Clerk of Session
