Pastoral Transition Update from Michael Anderson, January 9, 2019

Dear Members and Attenders of Grace Presbyterian,

As you remember, our consultant, Will Spokes  has been here twice to meet with individuals and groups about the history and the current state of our ministry. After his last visit, the Elders appointed a small group of current members to write a ministry vision statement to be presented to them and then, after review, to be presented to the congregation.

On January 24-26, Will Spokes returns to continue his work with our church.

As part of that weekend visit we will have a congregation gathering on Saturday, January  25, from 5:00 to 6:30 P.M. Light snacks and drinks will be available for adults, and childcare is provided with pizza, movies and a craft.

The purpose of the meeting is to review the Ministry Vision Statement together and to answer any questions that you might have. The Ministry Vision Statement (which will be distributed before the congregational meeting) describes the sort of ministry that we envision for the future of our church. That statement will help us to determine the job description for our next senior pastor and so be useful to the future pastoral search committee.

In addition, on Sunday the 26th at 12:15 P.M. in the High School room on the second floor, we will have another opportunity for a "Coffee with Will."  This will be a smaller gathering and a chance to talk further, if you’d like.  Please come to that meeting if you have any questions for him about his work with us, or if you have any comments that would be helpful to this process.

Our goal is to have a job description for the next Senior Pastor by April of this year.  In April we will also ask the congregation to nominate and elect a pulpit (pastoral search) committee.  Paul Carter's retirement date is not until May of 2021, and we hope to have selected a new pastor by that date. Please click here for a visual representation of our timeline.

On Behalf of the Pastoral Transition Leadership Team,

Michael Anderson
